Day 9: Hội An - Between Temples and Sea

Statue in the Japanese Bridge
At noon, we started with a walk through the Old Town. First we had to buy tickets, because except at the "Full Moon Festival" you need them for visiting the places of interests. Depending if you are a native or a tourist, you have different prices. Luckily we all got the tickets for the "native price" because we told the guards that Carina is a member of our family. I don't know why but they believed it :D

In my opinion, it was a little bit disappointing because nearly every older building was treated as place of interest where you have to give one of your tickets to get in. For example, we walked over the "Japanese Bridge" to get into Old Town. 3 of 4 tickets left :)

Old Town of Hội An during the day
Then we visited an old house which was built in three different styles: Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese. The house was quite beautiful but in the end we had just a 3-minutes-tour and got a green tea. Then we came to the part where the owners invited us to buy expensive stitchery. Maybe they are worth the money but that's not my interest ^^ (2 tickets left)

Ancient House
For lunch Carina, Sophie and me ate fresh fruits which we bought from a street hawker: litchi, mango and mangosteen. The last one was unknown for me up to this time, but it was delicious from the first moment and tasted a little bit like strawberry. The mango tasted the best because it was warm and mellow. I think warm mango could be my favorite dessert ;)
Inside a Temple
Afterwards we visited two temples. One of them was very impressive because in the middle of it, there was a small pond which looked like in a Japanese "Edo Garden".

Worker of the Manufacture
Carina, Sophie and me visited also a little manufacture where statues made out of wood and stone were produced. Because these handmade statues were really unique, I bought some for me and my friends in Germany. The service was also good, they even polished the statues with some kind of grease after I bought them ^^

Manufacture for Statues of every kind
Hall Of Meals ;)
Carina and me were hungry, so we went into a hall with lots of booths. Everyone had a different menu, so at the beginning we were confused of the choice. After walking to the center of the hall, we chose a booth were we ate rice, tofu, different kinds of meat, vegetables and herbs. Again, I can only recommend this for your travel into an Asian country: Only eat in restaurants / places where a lot of natives are. Because they only eat where the quality and prices are the best ^^

Best Buffet ever ^^
After we had enough of visiting Old Town, we went to the beach in the late afternoon. When I was there I felt something enormous. It was the feeling of how much I missed the sea. So I couldn't wait and jumped right into the sea :)

I got one of the best moments when I laid on the sea. My ears were right in the water, so I only heard the sea (sounded like the mix of multiple crackings) and I saw the sea on the top and the sky beneath it. Since a long, long time this was the most peaceful and quietest moment in my life ...... I will never forget it ^^

For dinner, we went to a restaurant at the beach. It wasn't so spectacular, so when it was dark I went to the sea and just enjoyed the swoosh of the sea at night. After a while, Carina went also to the beach and so both of us stand there at the beach near the water. We had a long and intense talk about our future. It confirmed again how similar we both think and so we talked also about the things which we are aiming for. For example, we both promised each other that we will get a house at the beach in future. Also we recognized that we both love nature and have a deep connection to it, especially to the sea :)
Beach Of Hội An
I think I had never a better ending of a day than this one :D
Next time we will say goodbye to the fabulous city Hội An and will take a train back to Hanoi. And believe me, even a train ride can be an adventure in Vietnam :D Stay tuned ;)
