Backstreet of Akihabara |
The last days were just rainy, so I spent most of the time at home. But I didn't want to waste the whole day, so I went to Akihabara about 4pm.
First, I looked for an external hard drive. But in the end, the prices are very similar to the German ones, so I decided to buy this later. But for 65€ in total, I bought 3 second-hand PS3 games, which is a very good price. In Germany I would need to pay at least 90€.
Since I saw the new game of the "Yakuza" series from Sega at Tokyo Game Show, I researched a bit more and now I'm totally a fan of it. Can't wait to play :D And of course DOA too, because ... of the awesome game handling and graphics of course ;)

Maybe I should have brought my PS3 to Japan? |
|
It's hard to learn Japanese,
if you see German words everywhere |
On my exploration, I saw an interesting product called "Green Tea Baumkuchen". Baumkuchen is the German word for pyramid or tree cake. Cool to see more German brands ^^
This day, I went away from the Electronic Town to see more of the whole area. Of course, Akihabara is famous for the Electronic Town, but for me it's the adventure to see other perspectives, that brought me here.

Because of the sign, I thought at first they sell just candies here :D
(one meaning of アメ (ame) = candy) |
After a few minutes I were in a distric where I saw one after another shop strung together. It reminded me of the streets in Vietnam and Thailand which are an interesting contrast to the typical western-style Japanese shopping malls.

The 1st Döner Kebab in Japan
|
And the highlight of the day: I finally ate Döner Kebab in Japan! It's not bad actually, but compared to the German one it's unfortunately not so delicious. It was a bit dry, maybe the vegetables were not that fresh. Also it had much oil, not many ingredients, e.g. no onions and it was a bit small. Strange was that the paper around the Kebab had the same size as the German one.
But in the end, I think this meal is new in Japan, so it will need just some time until has the quality I prefer ^^ Fascinating how this meal appears now all around Asia. I also saw it in Vietnam an Thailand too.

Looks like I'm in Germany :D |
After more sightseeing in the shopping streets, e.g. a whole street of stores which sold only supplies for golfers, I went home. It was good that I got up this day. I saw many interesting and new sides of Tokyo :D
|
Again sooo much food! |
|
Is this really useful in a city? |
|
Just suits in this store. Barney would love it ;) |
|
So many more things to explore ... |
